Hi buddy,
How are you doing? How was your weekend? Mine has been a story of God’s goodness to me and the greatness of the greatest ever footballer, Lionel Messi. As I type this, I have plasters on my hand, leg, and thigh. Also, I am nursing a sprained ankle, and to make things worse, my phone’s screen is smashed completely.
Sunday started usually, and I was on my way to the gym for the day’s activities. Just around a junction, the Nupe bikeman carrying me lost control of the break, and in a twinkle, I met myself on the ground with my hands bruised and impact on my lower back and legs. Thank God for passersby that came to my rescue to lift me off the road before onrushing vehicles came close. How did this all happen in 12 hours?
When I understood what was happening, I discovered my phone was on the road and my gym backpack couldn’t be found. My phone screen broke beyond recognition, and I saw the injuries. Interestingly, the man carrying me didn’t sustain even a scratch. God is wonderful!
After resting for a while, I took another bike to the clinic to treat myself. Ordinarily, I shouldn’t have retaken the bike, but there was no way I could order a ride for myself since my phone was gone.
Well, I got home tired, in pain but appreciative. I thank God I still have my life because we have had others who have not been that lucky.
Later, I sat down to watch the most incredible World cup final ever, and I am glad Lionel Messi got his crowning glory. I am thankful Allah allowed me to see this epic moment, and more importantly, Allah saved me to continue living for the purpose he has brought me into this world.
Initially, this week’s newsletter is about Gratitude. Gratitude to God Almighty for keeping us till this moment, and Gratitude to you for following me till this moment.
2022 started with a lot of promise on a personal level. And here we are, still hoping for a nice climax to an otherwise turbulent year for our country.
Personally, I have every reason to thank God. I lost two jobs this year. However, I got an internship placement paying me more than the lost jobs. My family welcomed our first child after struggling to move on from a draining and energy-sapping miscarriage.
Also, I became a top-rated freelancer on Upwork and moved past the $10,000 earnings mark. Furthermore, I became more active on my LinkedIn and medium profiles, and I x10 my followers and engagement rate.
I facilitated many sessions on digital marketing, freelancing, and remote working, helping more than 100 Nigerians start their freelance journey productively with significant results. God has been great to me!
Many people came through for my family this year, especially my close friends and family. Importantly, I got close to family members. I met new people. I started my newsletter with you wonderful people and improved my online and offline branding culminating in getting some good deals on Twitter. I invariably discovered I needed people in my life.
There have been significant challenges. I sent more than 1000 job emails this year, and I can’t start talking about the rejections I got. Lost scholarships because there was no funding. My NGO couldn’t achieve half of our objectives. And I struggled severely with anxiety and low self-esteem due to all these failures.
Look inwardly; there are so many things you should be grateful for. I hope you list out your blessings this year and see how wonderful God has done.
This will be the last newsletter for the year. I planned to send a long, conversational one, but I still feel pain from my injury.
I wish you a fantastic and enjoyable holiday. I can’t wait to read your vacation, holiday, and relaxation stories in the new year.
Don’t forget you can always reach out to me on Twitter at twitter.com/peng_writer or email me at talk2freelancerpeng@gmail.com.
